Miami (FL) Takes a Pair from NJIT

Highlanders and Hurricanes Wrap Up Four-Game Series Sunday at 1pm

CORAL GABLES, FL - The NJIT baseball team was swept in a non-conference doubleheader by host Miami (FL) on Saturday at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.

The Hurricanes took game one 19-2 before completing the sweep with a 16-0 win in game two.

NJIT got on the scoreboard first in game one when Cade Ladehoff singled home Luke Longo in the top of the first. The RBI single came during Ladehoff's first collegiate at bat and was also his first-career hit and first-career RBI.

Miami scored the next 19 runs in the game before the Highlanders got their second run in the top of the ninth via an RBI groundout off the bat off Michael Doyle.

In game two, Miami scored three in the second and cruised from there en route to another double-digit win. Doyle, Ray Ortiz, and Kevin Putsky each recorded a hit for the Highlanders. Brandon Peterson started on the mound for NJIT and struck out six over four innings of work.

The Highlanders and Hurricanes are slated to wrap up their series on Sunday at 1pm.
