Women's Tennis Takes Third Straight With 6-1 Win Over Bryant

NEWARK, N.J. — The NJIT women's tennis team completed a sweep of Southland Conference competition at home with a 6-1 victory over the Bryant Bulldogs Saturday evening at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.

Outside of a three-set defeat at No. 1 singles, NJIT (4-1) handled Bryant (1-3) with relative ease to win its third straight, with four of the five singles wins coming in straight sets and no doubles pair giving up more than three points.

"We had a great weekend of matches with conference competition, with solid play from every member of the team. The double teams were really in sync today and it was nice to see all the hard work of the team pay off," head coach Patricia Piorkowski McDonald raved after wrapping up the pair of wins. 

Sofia Pinedo led NJIT's efforts as the Highlander that conceded the fewest points across two wins (three in doubles, three in singles).
