Three Highlanders Score Double Figures in Setback to Washington

Seattle, Wash. – Three Highlanders scored in double figures, led by Sebastian Robinson's 16 points, but it was not enough as NJIT fell to Washington, 90-53, on Sunday afternoon. Tim Moore Jr. finished the day with 14 points, including a perfect 4-for-4 clip from the floor in the second half. Ari Fulton finished with a new season-best with 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

The Highlanders were without the services of leading scorer Tariq Francis, who missed the game with a right ankle injury.

How it Happened
NJIT started the game well, keeping things within single digits for the bulk of the first half. After the Huskies started the game on an 8-2 run, a Levi Lawal three-pointer at 14:58 trimmed into deficit. Robinson got his scoring started shortly after, drilling a midrange jumper just under a minute later and then nailing a stepback two at 12:39 to make it a six point game, 15-9.

As Washington tried to claim momentum, Fulton did his part to keep the Highlanders within striking distance. He connected on three straight field goals for NJIT, the first being a layup at 11:41 to cut it back down to six. One possession later, he answered a Husky basket with a three-pointer to pull NJIT to within five, 19-14. Later, as Washington increased its lead to double digits, a tough layup from Fulton got the Highlanders back within eight, 26-18. However, the Huskies would quickly regain a 10-point lead and keep NJIT at bay for the remainder of the afternoon.

News & Notes
  • Fulton's 11 points mark a new season-high.
  • Moore eclipsed the double-digit plateau for the fourth consecutive game.
  • The Highlanders pulled down 12 offensive rebounds on the day.
