12/10/2024 4:30:00 PM

NEWARK, NJ – NJIT men's tennis head coach Marco Matteucci has announced his team's Spring 2025 schedule. The Highlanders will take part in 21 matches during the spring, 12 of which will be played at home. Of those 12, 10 will be played inside the Naimoli Tennis Center on campus, with two matches slated to be held at Branch Brook Park.

"We look forward to another competitive season, playing a lot of solid teams from our region, the Ivy league and some new teams from down south over spring break," Matteucci said of the 2025 schedule.

Each of NJIT's first nine matches of the spring will be at home, beginning with a matchup against Quinnipiac on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 4 p.m. The Highlanders will face LIU the following day at 2 p.m. The following weekend features three more home matches, with the Highlanders hosting Siena and Lafayette on Saturday, Feb. 1 before taking on Fordham on Sunday, Feb. 2.

Wrapping up the home stretch to open the spring are matches against Binghamton (Feb. 7), Delaware (Feb. 15), FDU (Feb. 16) and Drexel (Feb. 22). Other home matches include Hofstra (Apr. 5), Army (Apr. 8) and St. John's (Apr. 12).

Nine matches will take place away from home for NJIT during the spring. The first away match takes place on Saturday, Mar. 1 with a trip up to Dartmouth. The following weekend, the Highlanders head to Rhode Island for matchups against Bryant (Mar. 8) and Brown (Mar. 9).

Othe road matches for NJIT feature a spring break trip to North Carolina where the Highlanders will face UNC-Wilmington and Kennesaw State. NJIT will also pay visits to Monmouth (Mar. 29), Georgetown (Mar. 30), Lehigh (Apr. 2) and Saint Joseph's (Apr. 16).

The Southland Conference Men's Tennis Championships will be held on the campus of Nicholls State in Thibodaux, La. from Apr. 22-26. The Highlanders will look to defend their title from a season ago when they defeated Nicholls, New Orleans and Incarnate to capture the program's first ever conference title.

"Winning back-to-back championships is the hardest thing to do in sports but the guys are ready for the challenge and ready for the adversity that is headed our way to win again," said Matteucci.
