PHILADELPHIA–Drexel defeated visiting NJIT, 3-0, in a men's soccer non-conference match Tuesday evening at Vidas Field.
Drexel, winners of two straight, scored a pair of goals in the first 20 minutes and added a late goal in the second half, improving to 5-1-2 overall. NJIT moves to 4-4-2 on the season.
The Dragon's Youri Senden, selected to the 2023 CAA Preseason All-Conference team scored the first goal of the match in the sixth minute and the Dragons went ahead 2-0 with a goal in the 20th minute. Drexel added a late goal in the 80th minute to earn the 3-0 victory.
NJIT, which outshot Drexel in overall shots (14-11; 10-5 in the second half) was led by sophomore Asembo Augo with three shots (two on goal) followed by Hugo Tavares, Maximus Barboto and Cristian LoGrasso each recording two shots.
The Highlanders held a slight edge in corner kicks (5-4).
Graduate student Samuel Reisgys played all 90 minutes in goal and made four saves.
Next Up
NJIT will make its first America East road trip on Saturday when the Highlanders visit Binghamton. Kickoff is slated for 6pm.
