Andrew Elcock Drives in Five While Brandon Peterson Earned his First Collegiate Win

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The NJIT baseball team scored eight runs in the eighth inning to come from behind and take a two-run lead before holding off host Saint Peter's 14-13 on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at Jaroshack Field.

The Highlanders trailed 11-3 after six innings, but scored two in the seventh, eight in the eighth and one more in the ninth to go ahead 14-11 heading into the bottom of the ninth. Croix Jenkins came out of the bullpen with NJIT ahead 14-12, the bases loaded, and one out and was able to get back-to-back fly outs to earn the save and clinch the fourth-straight win for the Highlanders.

Brandon Peterson earned his first-collegiate victory tossing four innings and allowing just a pair of runs in the ninth before Jenkins closed the door. Peterson allowed just two hits and struck out four.

All nine players in the NJIT starting lineup recorded at least one hit and scored at least one run in Wednesday's win.
