Women's Tennis Wraps Regular Season, Beats Bryant For Fourth Straight

SMITHFIELD, R.I. — The conclusion of the 2022-23 regular season came Sunday evening as the NJIT women's tennis team won its fourth straight match in a 6-1 victory over the Bryant Bulldogs.

NJIT (10-7) wrapped up its weekend in Rhode Island by only conceding a single singles point against Bryant (11-8). 

Like Saturday's match against Rhode Island, NJIT and Bryant split the first two flights in doubles before the Highlanders clinched the point with a 2-1 advantage. NJIT secured the victory by taking the first three singles matchups at Nos. 4, 3, and 1 before Bryant earned its first point, and the Highlanders set the final margins with a three-set win at No. 6 and a straight set triumph at No. 2

  • The last time NJIT closed a regular season with at least four straight wins, the Highlanders' 2019-20 campaign was forced to end due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • This is the fourth consecutive season that NJIT has won at least nine matches and third time in four years (excluding 2020-21; team opted out of season) that NJIT has reached double-digit wins.

NJIT will learn its fate for the Southland Conference Tournament early this week before traveling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for the four-day event (April 20-23).
