Baseball Drops Saturday Game at #21 NC State

Highlanders Fall 21-2; Will Look to Bounce Back in Sunday's Game Three

RALEIGH, NC - Twenty-first ranked North Carolina State scored early and often en route to a 21-2 victory over visiting NJIT in non-conference baseball action on Saturday at Doak Field.

With the victory, NC State remains undefeated through 11 games, while the Highlanders saw their record fall to 4-5.

The Wolfpack opened up the scoring with a two-run home run in the first inning and added a run in the second to go ahead 3-0.

In the top of the third, Andrew Elcock tripled off the top of the left field wall and Albert Choi followed it up with his second home run of the season to make the score 3-2.

From there, it was all NC State as the perennial power from the Atlantic Coast Conference scored the final 18 runs of the game to win 21-2.

Elcock and Choi each paced the Highlanders' offense with two hits, while Ray Ortiz and Andrew Eppinger each finished with one hit.

Choi's home run was the 13th of his career and NJIT's 14th of the season. The Highlanders have hit at least one home run in all nine games this season and the streak is 11 factoring in the final two games of the 2022 season.

The Highlanders and Wolfpack will conclude their series on Sunday at 1pm back at Doak Field.
