FRISCO, TX - The Southland Conference announced its men's tennis weekly honors on Tuesday and NJIT's
Pablo Perez Ramos was named the league's Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks.
Perez Ramos helped lead NJIT to a pair of wins last week as the Highlanders extended their season-opening winning streak to a program-record six matches.Â
In Friday's 6-1 win over Fordham, the sophomore dominated his #1 singles match with a 6-0, 6-3 win, while teaming up with
Josh Smith to earn a 6-2 victory at #1 doubles.
On Sunday, the Highlanders edged Binghamton 4-3 and Perez Ramos once again rolled to an easy win by a score of 6-3, 6-0. The victory at #1 singles came after Perez Ramos and Smith won 6-3 at #1 doubles to clinch the doubles point.
For the season, Perez Ramos is 6-0 in both singles and doubles play.
The Highlanders will look to extend their winning streak to seven on Saturday when they host Drexel. First serve is slated for 11am in the Naimoli Tennis Center.Â
