NEWARK, N.J. — The NJIT women's tennis team continued its excellent start to the spring campaign with its fourth straight victory, a 5-2 triumph over local foe Fairleigh Dickinson Friday evening at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility. 

The Highlanders (4-1) easily took a 1-0 lead with comfortable wins at the first two doubles flights before holding off FDU (0-2) at No. 3 for the sweep. NJIT would clinch the match with straight set wins at Nos. 4, 3, and 2 singles before FDU would register their first point at No. 1 singles and break the Highlanders' two-match shutout run. A split of the final two singles flights would set the final margin and give the program its first four-match winning streak since it won the last four matches of the 2020 season before it was shut down by the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Highlanders would try to extend their run to five and potentially six during a Saturday home doubleheader against Delaware (9 a.m.) and Wagner (2 p.m.)
