Pablo Perez Ramos was selected to play in the prestigious ITA All-American Championship last week and took on an opponent from perennial power UCLA in Satuday's opening round.
Perez Ramos won the first set in decisive fashion with a 6-1 victory, but was defeated 7-5 and 6-4 in the second and third sets as UCLA's Emon Van Lorben Sels advanced to the Round of 132.
"I'm very happy how Pablo competed over the weekend," explained Head Coach
Marco Matteucci. "He had chances in the match vs. his opponent from UCLA, but unfortunately it did not go his way,
Perez Ramos bounced back with a straight-set (6-3, 6-4) victory over Gerhard Sullwand of Grand Canyon University in the consolation bracket.
"In Pablo's second match he made good adjustments to earn a win against a good player from Grand Canyon," added Matteucci.
Perez Ramos will be joined by his teammates this weekend when the squad heads to the ITA Regional Tournament at Penn.Â
"We are looking forward to play next weekend at the ITA Regional tournament," concluded Matteucci.Â
