PRINCETON, NJ - NJIT redshirt sophomore Pablo Perez Ramos won his opening match at the ITA Northeast Super Regional and will move on to Saturday's Round of 16. The 32-player tournament is being hosted by Princeton from Friday-Monday. 

Perez Ramos dropped a tight first set to Penn standout Manfredi Graziani, but bounced back to take the second and third sets 6-4 and 6-3 respectively to stay alive in the tournament. 

"Today was a great day for Pablo," said NJIT Head Coach Marco Matteucci. "He took on a gritty opponent and stayed calm at the right times. He was able to use the right moments to his advantage and came out with the win!"

Perez Ramos, who was one of 16 automatic qualifiers due to his success last season, will take on Harvard's Cooper Williams, a former #4 junior in the world, on Saturday. First serve is slated for 1pm. 

"Great progress from a mental perspective," added Matteucci. "We are really happy for him."
