In the first meeting of the season between NJIT and St. Thomas Aquinas, the Spartans got off to a flying start. They dominated the opening period, securing a commanding 5-0 lead.

As the challenge for NJIT grew steeper but the Highlanders displayed resilience in the final period, with Matthew Francescutto scoring the lone goal in the waning minutes of the game. Despite their late surge, the Highlanders left with a 9-1 loss to the undefeated Spartans, marking their third defeat in MCHC conference play.

Freshman goaltender Noah Gibb faced an incredible 44 shots throughout the game, demonstrating exceptional determination despite the loss.
