Newark, NJ - The NJIT men's hockey team was looking to extend their winning streak to three games after wins on the road against Susquehanna and TCNJ last week. In their 1st official game in the Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference, the Sacred Heart Pioneers dominated the Highlanders 19-1. NJIT is now 0-2 in official ACHA games and 0-1 in the MCHC.
The Pioneers scored 7 goals in the 1st period and led by that number after the 1st intermission. They would score another 7 goals in the 2nd period as well, but the Highlanders would score once in the period. Sal Micciche would get the goal unassisted with exactly 5 minutes remaining in the period. Sacred Heart would finish the game scoring 5 goals in the 3rd period and winning by a 18-goal advantage.
