NEWARK, NJ–Senior Martin de Chavarria has been selected EIVA Defensive Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday.

De Chavarria picked up his first weekly honor of the 2023 season and third of his career after averaging 1.56kps and 1.22bps in two matches last week.

In a five-set thrilling victory over George Mason, de Chavarria combined for six kills on 12 attempts with just one error for a .417 hitting percentage to go along with seven total blocks.

In a match against No. 5 Pepperdine, de Chavarria combined for a .583 hitting percentage, tallying eight kills with just one error and adding four total blocks.
