LEWISBURG, PA - The NJIT women's volleyball team wrapped up play at the Bucknell Invitational on Saturday, dropping a pair of matches to the host Bison and George Washington.
The Highlanders were defeated 25-20, 25-21, 25-17 by Bucknell in a match that began at 9am and then fell 25-19, 25-22, 25-15 in the 2pm neutral-site match vs. GW.
Against Bucknell,
Courtney Branch continued her impressive play at the Invitational, leading the team with seven kills to go against just one error in 14 swings (.429 hitting percentage).
Adriana Goetz-Morales and
Asher Vallone each tallied six kills to contribute to the balanced NJIT offensive effort.
Juliana Impaglia once again handled the setting duties for NJIT, dishing out 24 assists, while
Doga Emil led the defense with 11 digs.
In the second match of the day, Goetz-Morales slammed home nine kills, while
Elley Torres chipped in with seven and Branch and Vallone each added six. Impaglia and
Maddie Dennis split the setting efforts and each had 12 assists, while Emil once again led the Highlanders in digs with 10.
NJIT will look to improve to 2-0 in the friendly confines of the Wellness and Events Center on Tuesday when they welcome local-rival FDU to Newark. First serve is slated for 7pm in the WEC.
