Men’s Volleyball Announces Three Standouts for 2023 Season

NEWARK, NJ–NJIT head coach Danny Goncalves has announced three volleyball standouts for the upcoming 2023 season.  Joining the Highlanders will be Will Migdal, Andrew Fedmasu and Braeden Goebbert.

The three newcomers join a team that returns 13 letterwinners and a team that advanced to the 2022 EIVA Conference Championship match.

Here is a closer look at the newcomers:

Will Migdal, Opposite, 6-6, 175, Carlsbad, CA/La Costa Canyon (Concordia University Irvine)
A 6-foot-6 opposite from Carlsbad, California, Migdal joins the Highlanders after one season at Concordia University Irvine (2022).  He attended La Costa Canyon High School, where he was named team captain (2019, 2020) and Most Improved Player in 2018.  He played for the Wave Volleyball Club and Coast Volleyball Club

Migdal, who received All-Academic honors for two consecutive years, intends to major in digital marketing at NJIT in the Fall 2022.

Andrew Fedmasu, Middle Blocker, 6-5, 185, Plainfield, IL/Plainfield North HS
Fedmasu, a 6-foot-5 middle blocker,  joins the Highlanders from Illinois after helping Plainfield North High School win a conference title in 2021.  He earned first-team All-State selection in 2022 and Most Valuable Player in 2021.

Fedmasu participated in the 2021 Fall Training with the USA Volleyball National Team Development Program, guiding his team to a fifth place finish in the u18 Open Division at the 2021 Junior National Championships.  He also participated in the USA Volleyball National Training Program in 2019 and 2020.  In 2022 and 2020, Fedmasu was selected Best Attacker for the Palos Point Series.

He played for the SPVB 18 Elite Club team and intends to major in either biomedical engineering or civil engineering at NJIT in the Fall 2022.

Braeden Goebbert, Middle, 6-7, 180, Lockport, IL/Lockport Township HS
Goebbert, a 6-foot-7 middle from Illionions, guided Lockport Township High School in capturing its first-ever Conference Championship (2022), won consecutive Regional titles (2022, 2021) and won the 2021 IHSA Sectional Elite 8 title.  He was selected for the Southtown Sports All-Area first-team and IVA All-State first-team, Argo Invitational All-Tournament team and named Chicago Tribune Player of the Week (1x).

Goebbert, who earned High Honor Roll and was an AP Scholar-Award recipient, plans to major in mechanical engineering at NJIT in the Fall 2022.
