VESTAL, NY - The NJIT baseball team was defeated 4-3 by host Binghamton in the first contest of a three-game America East series on Saturday afternoon.
The Highlanders led 3-0 for most of the game as starting pitcher
Ryan Fischer was cruising, but the Bearcats rallied to tie the game in the seventh inning and walked it off with a run in the eighth.Â
NJIT scored two runs in the first on RBIs from
Albert Choi and
Paul Franzoni and added another run in the second on a sacrifice fly from
David Marcano.
After allowing two baserunners in the bottom of the first, Fischer sent down 16 in a row before the late Binghamton rally.
Five different Highlanders recorded a hit, while Fischer struck out three in 7.1 innings of work.
