Men's Tennis Defeated at Delaware

Highlanders Fall 4-0 on the Road

4/10/2022 9:59:00 PM

NEWARK, DE - The NJIT men's tennis team fell 4-0 to host Delaware on Sunday afternoon at the Delaware Tennis Courts.

Delaware improved to 12-8 with the victory, while the Highlanders' record now stands at an even 8-8.

"Compared to where we were at the beginning of the season, we have made good improvements," said first-year Head Coach Marco Matteucci. "We are competing better and have made strides in the right direction, but we are still lacking some intangibles to win certain matches."

The Blue Hens went ahead 1-0 early as they swept al three doubles matches.

Delaware carried the momentum into singles play, winning at the first, fourth, and fifth positions to clinch the victory.

NJIT returns to action on Friday when it travels to Hofstra for its final regular season match of the season. First serve is slated for 1pm in Hempstead, NY.

"We will go back to work to prepare for Hofstra and the upcoming conference tournament," concluded Matteucci.
