NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT women's basketball team will visit first place Stony Brook on Saturday, February 5 in America East Conference action.

The NJIT women's basketball team closed out 2021 with a win, holding off defending America East Champions Stony Brook, en route to a 54-49 home victory to open league action on December 30.
NJIT held Stony Brook to just 28.1 percent shooting from the field and a season-low 49 points to earn the victory behind a team-best 11 points from Kenna Squier. Squier shot 4-of-9 from the field and added four rebounds.
10 Wins for the Highlanders
The 10 wins for the Highlanders are the most since the 2016-17 season when NJIT finished with 11. Competing in its second season of the America East, the Highlanders have set a new mark with five wins with a month and half of basketball left in conference action.
The 10 wins is the third most wins in the NJIT DI era (2016-17 season (11 wins). The 16 wins in 2012-13 is the highest wins total in the Division I era (began 2006-07).

Six Wins on the Road
NJIT recorded its sixth road win of the season, matching the most wins on the road since the 2012-13 season with a 72-58 victory at UMBC on January 12.
Highlander Hits
NJIT looks to snap a two-game skid at Stony Brook, who sit atop of America East standing with a 9-1 league record.
The Highlanders, which started out 4-0 in the America East NJIT started off the season 4-0 in conference play for the first time in the NJIT Division I era, defeated the top two teams in the preseason poll after being picked 8th. NJIT's five-game winning streak snapped by UAlbany on January 15.
Squier leads NJIT in scoring at 10.8 points per game while Lyzi Litwinko and Ellyn Stoll join Squier in double-figures at 10.7 and 10.4 respectively. Litwinko paces the Highlanders with a team-high 6.7 rebounds, which ranks sixth in the league.
Stoll, NJIT's three-point threat as she ranked fifth in the league with 1.7 makes from beyond the arc per game and has combined for a total of 33 this season.
NJIT ranks fifth in the America East in both scoring (57.7) and sixth in scoring defense (60.8) while leading the conference at (4.45) blocks per game.

NJIT will return home and host New Hampshire on February 9 at 7pm inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center.
Last season, NJIT captured its first America East Conference victory Saturday afternoon led by senior Ellyn Stoll and sophomore Kenna Squier's game-high 19 points en route to a 78-57 victory over New Hampshire at Lundholm Gymnasium.
The win for NJIT is the first of the 2020-21 season, first in the America East since joining the league in July 2020 and first all-time over the Wildcats.
