NEWARK, NJ - The NJIT men's tennis team fell to visiting St. Francis (NY) 4-3 on Sunday morning at the Naimoli Tennis Center.
NJITÂ dropped to 3-4 on the season, while the Terriers' record also now stands at 3-4.
"We had a rough day at the office today, but are continuing to compete better," said Head Coach
Marco Matteucci.
St. Francis took two doubles matches to go ahead early in the match 1-0.
The Highlanders and Terriers split the six singles matches to give St. Francis the 4-3 victory. NJIT's wins came at first, second, and fourth singles as
Abdullah Fouad,
Amine El Kholti, and
Oscar Callo von Platen each earned respective victories on Sunday.Â
Fouad and Callo von Platen won in straight sets, while El Kholti earned his victory in three sets.
The Highlanders return to action on Wednesday when they host FDU. First serve is slated for 3pm back at the Naimoli Tennis Center.
"The FDU match offers us another chance to get better," concluded Matteucci.
