NJIT Wins Seventh In A Row; Sweeps Sacred Heart On the Road in EIVA Action

Highlanders move to 3-0 in conference play


FAIRFIELD, CT–The NJIT men's volleyball team won its seventh straight match of the season, behind a .347 team hitting percentage on its way to a 3-0 EIVA Volleyball sweep Friday evening over Sacred Heart at William H. Pitt Center.

NJIT, winners of its last seven matches, improved to 7-2 on the young season and remained undefeated in EIVA action with a 3-0 mark.  The 7-2 start for the Highlanders is the best start since 2007 when the Highlanders started 9-2.

Visiting NJIT won in straight sets – 25-18, 25-20 and 25-20 paced by a match-best 10 kills from freshman Alessandro Negri, who combined for a .409 hitting percentage on 22 swings and just one error.

Redshirt junior Jens Feldthus finished the match with a .583 hitting percentage notching eight kills on 12 attempts with just one error.  Julian Meissner and Martin de Chavarria each added nine and seven kills respectively for the Highlanders in the road win.

Roque Nido recorded a match-best 33 assists and libero Will Andrews added a team-best six digs.

The Highlanders held a 7-to-2 advantage in the service ace category led by Negri with three aces.  Negri has recorded at least one ace through the first nine games, including five matches where he combined for three aces.

Middle blocker Carson Williams led the way in front of the net posting four total blocks (one solo, three assists) followed by Feldthus, Chavarria and Meissner with two block assists each.

Sacred Heart's Aaron Peterson combined for seven kills while Cole Younger led the match with seven digs.

NJIT will continue its EIVA Volleyball road trip on Saturday at 7pm when the Highlanders visit Harvard.  The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
