NEWARK, NJ - The NJIT men's tennis team was defeated 7-0 by visiting Monmouth on Friday at the Naimoli Tennis Center.
Monmouth stayed perfect through six matches this season, while the Highlanders fell to 1-3.
NJITÂ earned a victory at first doubles thanks to a 6-3 victory from
Josh Smith and
Amine El Kholti, but the Hawks took the other two doubles matches, 6-0 and 6-1, respectively, to clinch the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead.Â
Monmouth then won five of the six singles matches in straight sets, with El Kholti being the only Highlander to force a third set.
NJIT will look to bounce back on Sunday when it welcomes Binghamton to Newark. First serve is slated for 1pm back in Naimoli Tennis Center.
