NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT women's basketball team will welcome Vermont on Wednesday, February 2 and look for a split of the America East Conference season series.

NJIT Athletics Updated Spectator Policy | Full Release
All spectators ages 5 and older, must be fully vaccinated and provide proof upon entry. Masks remain required for all non-participants, in compliance with America East conference, NCAA, and NJIT guidelines. 

These policies are effective immediately.

Proof of vaccination will be required for all spectators, in compliance with the City of Newark's Executive Order.

National Girls & Women's in Sport Day | February 2
Founded by the Women's Sports Foundation, this is a day to celebrate what it means to have sport in our lives and the lives of our female student-athletes.   

This year is even more fitting because in June, we will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the landmark Title IX legislation that created new opportunities for girls & women.

Tip-off is slated for 5pm inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center and for those not able to attend the game can watch via ESPN+ with in-game statistics available on NJITHighlanders.com.

Vermont leads the all-time series, 7-2.

In the first meeting this season, Vermont defeated the visiting Highlanders, 71-49 on January 19 in Burlington, VT.

10 Wins for the Highlanders
The 10 wins for the Highlanders are the most since the 2016-17 season when NJIT finished with 11.   Competing in its second season of the America East, the Highlanders have set a new mark with five wins with a month and half of basketball left in conference action.

The 10 wins is the third most wins in the NJIT DI era (2016-17 season (11 wins).  The 16 wins in 2012-13 is the highest wins total in the Division I era (began 2006-07).

Last Time Out
NJIT's second half rally fell just short Saturday as UAlbany held on for a 57-53 home victory over the Highlanders in America East Conference women's basketball action inside SEFCU Arena.

NJIT fifth-year Ellyn Stoll netted a game-best 20 points, finishing 8-for-14 from the field and five rebounds.  

The Highlanders other double-figure scorer on the night was redshirt senior Kimi Evans who just missed notching a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds, including a pair of blocks.

Kenna Squier filled up the box score, chipping in six points, grabbed seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block.  Sophomore Aria Myers added five points and four rebounds.

Highlander Hits
NJIT looks to split the season series with Vermont as the Catamounts earned a 71-49 victory in Burlington on January 19.

The Highlanders, which started out 4-0 in the America East NJIT started off the season 4-0 in conference play for the first time in the NJIT Division I era, defeated the top two teams in the preseason poll after being picked 8th. NJIT's five-game winning streak snapped by UAlbany on January 15.

Squier leads NJIT in scoring at 11.2 points per game while Lyzi Litwinko and Ellyn Stoll join Squier in double-figures at 10.7 and 10.6 respectively.  Litwinko paces the Highlanders with a team-high 6.7 rebounds, which ranks sixth in the league. 

Stoll, NJIT's three-point threat as she ranked fifth in the league with 1.7 makes from beyond the arc per game and has combined for a total of 32 this season.

NJIT ranks fourth in the America East in both scoring (59.2) and fourth in scoring defense (61.1) while leading the conference at (4.33) blocks per game.

Next Up
NJIT will visit Stony Brook, who sits atop the league with a 17-2 overall record, 8-1 in the America East on Saturday, February 5.  The game will be televised on SNY and steamed on ESPN3.

In the first meeting of the season, the Highlanders defeated the Seawolves in Newark, 54-49.
