ANNAPOLIS, MD - The NJIT men's tennis team wrapped up its fall schedule this past weekend, competing at the Navy Invitational from Friday-Sunday.
Joining the Highlanders at the event were student-athletes from Monmouth, LIU, Delaware, Columbia, and Princeton.
"We had a great fall season and tournaments at Navy are always very intense, said Head Coach
Marco Matteucci. "We were able to finish the fall semester on a high note this weekend."
NJIT was highlighted by freshman
Nejc Skorjanc, who won his first three matches to earn a spot in the championship round of the top flight, where he bowed out to Navy's Sasha Panyan 6-1, 7-6 (8-6). Skorjanc won his first match in straight sets, before taking the next two in three sets, defeating competition from Delaware, Monmouth, and Navy.
In doubles play,
Pablo Perez Ramos and
Josh Smith represented the Highlanders in the top flight and the duo dropped its first match to a pair from Monmouth, but bounced back to win the next three against teams from Navy, LIU, and Delaware.

"We played a lot of tennis this fall and now we will take time to heal our bodies and train for a few more weeks before taking a break to recharge and get ready for the spring...ROLL TECH!," concluded Matteucci.
