SMITHFIELD, RI - The NJIT women's volleyball team was defeated by host Bryant in America East Conference action on Friday evening at the Chase Athletic Center.
Friday's match was the third all-time meeting between the two programs and first as members of the America East after Bryant joined the conference this past summer.
The hosts took the first two sets 25-14 and 25-19 before winning the third set 25-22 to clinch the match.
NJIT was led offensively by
Adriana Goetz-Morales and
Asher Vallone, who each recorded seven kills.
Juliana Impaglia handled the setting duties and finished with 25 assists.
Defensively,
Doga Emil once again led the way with 12 digs, while
Ines Varela had a great performance at the net with a match-best seven blocks (one solo) as NJIT out-blocked Bryant 10-7.
The Highlanders will return to the court next Friday for another America East road match as they trave to Baltimore to take on UMBC.
