NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT women's basketball team will look to bounce back and return to the win column on Wednesday when the Highlanders make a trip up to Vermont.

Six Wins on the Road
NJIT recorded its sixth road win of the season, matching the most wins on the road since the 2012-13 season with a 72-58 victory at UMBC on January 12.
Five Wins in a Row
NJIT matched the record of five in a row after a win at UMBC on January 12, 2022. During the 2012-13 season the Highlanders closed out the year with five consecutive wins, including capturing the 2013 Great West Conference Tournament title.
The Highlanders win streak was halted shortly after the Highlanders 62-54 home loss to UAlbany on January 15.
The 4-0 Start in Conference Play
NJIT started off the season 4-0 in conference play for the first time in the NJIT Division I era.

2021 Rewind
The NJIT women's basketball team picked up its first win of the season and it was a big one, recording its first Big Ten program win with a 61-49 victory at Wisconsin on November 14, 2021.
The win over Wisconsin started a three-game win streak for the Highlanders (ast time the Highlanders won three straight was in 2019-20 during a stretch of a pair of wins at home against St. Francis Brooklyn (Nov. 26, 2019) and Saint Peter's (Dec. 4, 2019) and on the road at Hartford (Dec. 7, 2019).
With a win at St. Francis Brooklyn on December 11, NJIT closed out the non-conference slate with a 5-6 overall record.
NJIT closed out 2021 with a bang, knocking off preseason favorite and defending America East Champions Stony Brook on December 30, 54-49, at home inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center. It was the first time NJIT defeated the Seawolves in five meetings.
Highlander Hits
NJIT enters Wednesday with a 9-7 overall record, 4-1 in the America East. NJIT won the first four games in league play 4-0 with a 54-49 victory over the defending America East champions, and pre-season favorite, Stony Brook, 67-59 overtime win at Maine on January 2, a close 66-64 road win at Binghamton on January 8 and most recently a 72-58 road win at UMBC.
The Highlanders five game win streak was halted on Saturday in NJIT's home loss against UAlbany.
Squier leads NJIT in scoring at 12.3 points per game while Lyzi Litwinko and Ellyn Stoll join Squier in double-figures at 10.5 and 10.4 respectively. Litwinko paces the Highlanders with a team-high 6.8 rebounds, which ranks sixth in the league.
Stoll, NJIT's three-point threat as she ranked fourth in the league with 1.9 makes from beyond the arc per game and has combined for a total of 29 this season.
NJIT ranks fifth in the America East in both scoring (60.3) and fourth in scoring defense (61.5) while leading the conference at (4.44) blocks per game.
1,000 Career Points Milestone for Ellyn Stoll
Stoll scored her 1,000 career point at Rider on December 1, 2021. Entering the game, Stoll needed eight points to hit the milestone. She becomes the fourth player in the NJIT Division I era to reach 1,000 career points and 10th all-time in NJIT women's basketball history.
With 1,078 career points, Stoll ranks third in the NJIT DI era and eight all-time.
New Faces In 2022-23
The NJIT women's basketball team added a trio of high school standouts -- Avery O'Roke (Winchester, VA), Kyleigh Welsh (Clearwater, FL) and Alejandra Zuniga (Madrid, Spain) who are set to join the Highlanders in the Fall of 2022.
Scouting the Opponent
Vermont enters Wednesday's contest with an 8-7 overall mark, 2-2 in the America East and 6-2 inside Patrick Gymnasium.
The Catamounts most recently defeated UMBC, 69-36 on January 15, led by graduate guard Josie Larkins who had a team-high 21 points.
Vermont has four players who are averaging double-figures paced by Larkins (12.9ppg), Emma Utterback (11.5ppg), Anna Olson (11.4ppg) and Delaney Richason (10.1ppg).
Larkins, with 45 three-pointers this season, ranks first in the America East in three-point percentage (43.7) and three-pointers per game (3.0).
Olson tops the team at 6.7rpg which ranks seventh in the league.
Vermont ranks first in the America East in field goal percentage (42.4) and assists (14.67).
Next Up
NJIT will return home for a pair of games, first hosting Binghamton on January 22 at 3pm and UMBC on January 26 at 7pm.
In the first meetings of the season, NJIT picked up a 66-64 win over the Bearcats and earned the win at UMBC, 72-58.
