Piscataway, NJ - The NJIT women's volleyball team wrapped up play at the 9/11 Memorial Invitational at the Rutgers Athletic Center on Saturday, falling twice to Brown and NC State.
Both losses were in straight sets as Brown defeated NJIT 25-17, 25-18. 25-17 and NC State took the second match 25-22, 25-17, 25-16
Courtney Branch led the way for the Highlanders against Brown, recording team-highs of eight kills and six blocks.
Branch's six blocks and
Adriana Goetz-Morales' five blocks helped NJIT out-block the Bears 7-5. Goetz-Morales also contributed offensively, tallying seven kills.
Juliana Impaglia handled the setting duties for NJIT and dished out 21 assists to go along with seven digs.
Against NC State, the Highlanders once again one the blocking battle, this time 7-5, with
Asher Vallone's five leading the way.
Vallone, who made started for the first time in her young career against the Wolfpack, also tallied a team-high six kills, while attacking at a .333 percentage.
Kyla Lannert (15 assists) and Impaglia (13 assists) split the setting duties, while
Kaitlyn Arias served as libero and finished with a match-high 14 digs.
The Highlanders return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Fairleigh Dickinson for a 7pm non-conference match. NJIT defeated the Knights the last times the teams met in 2019.
