Highlanders Finish Season with Three Wins

DURHAM, NH - The NJIT women's volleyball team suffered a straight-set setback to host New Hampshire in America East action in their season finale on Saturday.

NJIT dropped the opening two sets 25-11 and 25-12, respectively, before falling 25-17 in the third set.

Katelyn Bliesner and Kyla Lannert each tallied five kills to lead the Highlanders, while Udo Nwosu, CJ Trevino and Juliana Impaglia led the way defensively with six digs, apiece. Impaglia and Lannert split the setting duties and each dished out 10 assists.

The Highlanders second match of the day, scheduled for 6pm against Albany, was forfeited by the Great Danes, so NJIT will finish its spring 2021 season with a 3-10 record. New Hampshire completed the regular season with a 7-3 mark and will look to continue its season next weekend at the America East Championship.

NJIT had no seniors this season and were led by freshmen in kills (Elley Torres; 99), assists (Lannert; 290) and digs (Kaitlyn Arias; 184). Sophomore Courtney Branch was the team leader in blocks with 34, including six solo blocks.
