Women's Soccer Shut Out By Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y. --- The NJIT women's soccer team suffered its first defeat in America East Conference play, falling 4-0 to the reigning league champion Stony Brook Seawolves Sunday afternoon at LaValle Stadium.

After picking up a point in its first-ever America East match last Sunday at Maine, the Highlanders (2-2-1, 0-1-1 AE) were unable to recreate their output against the Seawolves (3-2, 3-0 AE).

NJIT fell behind early as Stony Brook converted a penalty kick in the 15th minute and the Seawolves added two more goals in the first (22', 45') and an additional two scores in the second half (48', 86').

Sophomore Lauren Chamberlain and freshman Corbin Reifschneider led the Highlanders with two shots each while redshirt sophomore Molly Saylor made nine total saves on the afternoon.
