NEWARK, NJ - The NJIT men's tennis team will look to continue its hot start to the 2020-21 season on Sunday when it hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to Bucknell for a 1:30pm match against the Bison.
NJITÂ won its first two matches of the season, defeating Drexel 4-3 and La Salle 5-2.
"The team is looking forward to Sunday's match," explained Head Coach
Ira Miller. "It will be our first away match since March 8, 2020."
Miller's squad earned the doubles point against La Salle after dropping it to Drexel and won four of six singles matches in both.
Abdullah Fouad,
Samuel Townes and
Ashwin Kanetkar are all 2-0 so far this season in singles play, while
Amine El Kholti and
Josh Smith each split their two singles matches.Â
The Bison enter Sunday's match with a 1-1 record, defeating Saint Francis (PA) 5-2, and falling to Monmouth by the same score.Â
Following the match against Bucknell, NJIT will return home for a mid-week match against local-rival Farleigh Dickinson on Wednesday, March 17, at 1pm in the Naimoli Tennis Center.Â
