NEWARK, NJ--Sophomore opposite Julian Meissner has been selected EIVA Conference Defensive Player of the Week the league announced on Monday.

In a 2-0 week for NJIT, which saw the Highlanders pick up its first EIVA Conference sweep of the season over Sacred Heart, Meissner averaged 3.17kps, .293 hitting percentage, 2.33 digs per set and 1.00 blocks per set.

In a 3-0 win over the Pioneers on Thursday, Meissner combined for nine digs, six kills and three block assists and followed up with a straight set victory on Friday, posting a match-best 13 kills, five digs, three block assists and two aces.

Meissner currently ranks second in the EIVA in kills per set (3.50), seventh in digs per set (1.57) and 12th in the blocks per set (0.64).

NJIT will return to action next weekend when the Highlanders visit #11 Penn State on February 13-14.  First spike set for 3pm on both days.
