USAF ACADEMY, CO--Coming off capturing the first NCAA trophy in program history with a fourth-place finish at the 2021 NCAA Fencing Championships, the NJIT men's fencing team opened its 2021-22 campaign at the Western Invitational hosted by Air Force.
NJIT picked up wins over Incarnate Word (19-8), Stanford (14-13) and San Diego State (15-12).
Four different Highlanders -- Thomas Manley, Brett Bogert, Robert Hondor and Rourke Hillyer each notched 14 wins.
In the men's foil competition, Manley led the way with a 14-9 record, good for a winning percentage of 61%.
The men's epee squad combined for a 42-30 overall record with Bogert, Hondor and Hillyer each combining for a 14-10 mark.
NJIT will return to action on Friday, November 19 at the Columbia Invitational.
