VESTAL, NY - The NJIT women's volleyball team took the road for the final time this season and was defeated in straight sets by host Binghamton in America East action on Sunday afternoon on the Binghamton University campus.
The Bears squeaked out the opening set 25-23, before winning the second and third sets more comfortably, by scores of 25-12 and 25-16, respectively.
The Highlanders were led by freshman
Ines Varela, who finished with seven kills and a block.
Elley Torres (six kills) and
Juliana Impaglia (five kills) also factored into the NJIT offense.
Impaglia handled the setting duties for NJIT and dished out 18 assists, while
Udo Nwosu and Torres each recorded seven digs.
NJIT returns to action on Wednesday when they open up a three-match homestand at the Wellness and Events Center in Newark against St. Francis Brooklyn. First serve is slated for 6pm.
