Penn 9, NJIT 1

NEWARK, NJ - NJIT was looking to earn their 2nd straight win in as many days after a 5-2 win in West Long Branch against Monmouth Friday night. But, the Highlanders were not able to follow up as the Penn Quakers won by the score of 9-1 in their only meeting against NJIT this season. The Highlanders now have an overall record of 3-7 and a conference record of 2-4.

The Quakers got two early goals off of unfortunate caroms off Highlander players to quickly grab an early lead. Penn continued the attack with two more goals in the 1st that ended starter Noah Vazquez's night early. The Quakers took that 4-goal cushion into the locker room after one period of play.

Penn added another two goals to make 6-0 at the midway point of the 2nd period. Sal Micciche got his 3rd goal of the season shorthanded to give the Highlanders a goal on the board. Micciche has now tallied a point in 4 straight games in 4 games he has played this season. The Quakers would score two more goals to make it an 8-1 game after the 2nd intermission.

Penn would get their 9th goal late in the 3rd period. NJIT would continue to play hard and had some decent scoring opportunities, but could not get any more goals. Noah Vazquez would make 2 saves and James Bond would make 21 saves in relief.
