NEWARK, NJ--After picking up its first America East Conference sweep of the season last weekend, NJIT will return to action on January 23-24 when the Highlanders visit reigning America East Champions Stony Brook at Island Federal Arena.
Game Information
Game times are slated for 2pm on both Saturday, January 23 and Sunday, January 24. The games will be streamed live on ESPN3 with in-game statistics available on www.NJITHighlanders.com.

Near the middle of the home page under the headlines section, an upcoming events calendar lists scheduled NJIT contests. Last Time Out for NJIT
NJIT picked up it first America East Conference series sweep of the season, behind freshman Lyzi Litwinko's first career double-double, combining for 10 points, 13 rebounds as the Highlanders cruised to a 62-42 win over visiting Hartford Monday afternoon in women's basketball conference action inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center.
NJIT, which recorded a 65-51 victory on Sunday over the Hawks, secured its sweep on Monday with a 62-42 home victory. As of Monday evening, NJIT sits tied for fourth in the America East standings with Vermont (4-2), Stony Brook (4-2), Binghamton (4-6) and New Hampshire (4-6).
The last time the Highlanders won back-to-back games was last season, when NJIT won a stretch of three games (November 26, 2019 to December 7, 2019) where the Highlanders defeated St. Francis Brooklyn and Saint Peter's at home and went on the road to defeat Hartford.
Litwinko, the 5-foot-8 guard, set a new personal record with 13 rebounds -- seven shy the NJIT Division I single game record of 20 set by Leah Horton (vs. Lipscomb on February 4, 2016). Litwinko finished a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line in addition to, dishing out a game-best five assists.
America East Rookie of the Week
Freshman Lyzi Litwinko has been selected America East Conference Rookie of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday.
Litwinko picks up her third career Rookie of the Week honor after leading the Highlanders to a 2-0 week.
NJIT registered its fourth overall win, second straight victory in league action and first conference sweep over Hartford this past weekend.
For the week, the 5-foot-8 guard from Berlin, CT averaged 9.5 ppg, 11.0 rpg and 4.5 apg.
On Saturday in the Highlanders 65-51 victory, Litwinko just missed notching a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds while dishing out four assists.
The next day, Litwinko followed up with her first career double-double, combining for 10 points and a career-high 13 rebounds, including a game-best five assists, as the Highlanders cruised to a 62-42 win.
Scouting Report: NJIT Highlanders
Sophomore guard Kenna Squier leads the team in scoring with 10.6 points-per game followed by senior Ellyn Stoll (9.6ppg) and Litwinko (8.1ppg). Squier ranks second in the America East in free throw percentage (44-56; .786).
Litwinko, standing at 5-foot-8, tops the Highlanders in three categories--rebounding (6.1rpg; 9th in the America East) and assists (3.1; 6th America East).
Fresh Faces
The Highlanders have added six new faces ahead of the 2020-21 season. All six are true freshmen: Lindsey Syrek, Grace Plummer, Aria Myers, Kiana Brereton, Lyzi Litwinko and Lilly Anderson.
New Home for Highlanders in 2020-21
The 2020-21 season will feature NJIT's first season as a member of the America East Conference. The Highlanders, who became the 10th full member of the America East effective July 1, 2020, will play a full basketball double round‐robin schedule of 18 conference games against the other nine schools. The schedule format consists of weekend series (Saturday and Sunday) where a team hosts the same opponent on back‐to‐back days for two games.
NJIT departs the ASUN Conference after five seasons as a member (first season 2015-16), which marked the first time that the Highlanders had been a full member of an automatic qualifying NCAA Division I multisport conference.
Scouting Report: Stony Brook
Stony Brook enters the weekend with a 6-4 overall mark, 4-2 in the America East. The Seawolves are coming off a split against New Hampshire last weekend and are led by Anastasia Warren, the only double-figure scorer on the team at 10.2ppg.
Asiah Dingle and India Pagan are averaging 9.8ppg and 9.2ppg respectively for the Seawolves. Pangan tops the team with 5.6rpg.
Last season, Stony Brook produced a 22-game winning streak, 28-3 overall record, and its first America East regular-season and postseason titles.
