DURHAM, NC—Sophomore Robert Hondor paced the NJIT men's fencing team, placing ninth in the men's epee event Saturday at the 2020 Mid-Atlantic/South Regional Fencing Championships hosted by Duke University.
 
Hondor, seeded eighth coming into the event, placed ninth out of 36 competitors in the men's epee event. Teammate Brett Bogert recorded a 12^th place finish followed by Rourke Hillyer (15^th) and Tristan Gibson (27^th).
 
In the men's foil event, senior Thomas Manley placed 10^th followed by Kevin Katayama (11^th), Cristian Candescu (26^th) and Dominic Heise (32^nd).
 
Andrew Richardson was the top finisher for NJIT in the men's saber event, notching a 16^th place finish followed by Thomas Slawinski (17^th), Pedro D'Avila (25^th) and Justyn Hall (33^rd).
