Will Andrews, Men's Volleyball
"I never thought that I would end up at a school like NJIT. I knew that I wanted to be an engineer as I was applying to colleges, but NJIT was a school that I applied to on a whim. Being from Kentucky, New Jersey is a ways away, and I never thought that I would fall in love with a school like I did here in Newark."
I was recruited to be a member of NJIT's Men's Volleyball team, and came to visit the school in February during a nor'easter. The wind was frigid, rain was coming down sideways, I had ice in my hair, and I still loved everything about the school. The diversity of the students, the campus, the location, and the academics all combine to make NJIT a unique, vibrant community that has become my home away from home.
NJIT has also given me countless opportunities to get involved on and off campus. As a member of the Albert Dorman Honors College, I got to be a TA this past semester for the one of the Honors College's freshman seminar classes.
As a member of the NJIT Men's Volleyball, I have gotten to travel across the country to represent NJIT. I have also gotten to represent my team on the Student-Athlete Advisory Council and serve as the NJIT Student Athlete Advisory Committee treasurer. I even got to assist in research as a freshman.
Locally, I've volunteered at an elementary school to teach volleyball in the gym classes. Being active on (and off) campus has made my college experience incredibly engaging and rewarding, and I enjoy every minute.
NJIT truly is the school for me. I simply cannot see myself going to any other school, and feel very lucky to be able to call myself a Highlander. I couldn't be happier about where I am or where I'm going. From the bottom of my heart, thank you NJIT."
