NEWARK, NJ--FGCU had three players in double-digits to lead the visiting Eagles to a 68-39 road victory at NJIT on Saturday in ASUN Conference women's basketball action inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center.
FGCU recorded its 16th straight win of the season, moving to 27-2 overall and a perfect 14-0 in the ASUN. NJIT moves to 4-22 overall, 1-12 in the ASUN.
The Eagles were led by a game-best 16 points from Keri Jewett-Giles followed by Ana Marinkovic (12 points) and Kerstie Phills (10). Phills led all players with six steals and a team-best seven rebounds.
FGCU connected on 18 three-pointers as a team led by four from Jewett-Giles and Marinkovic.
NJIT had one player in double-figures paced by senior Danielle Tunstall who was one rebound shy of a double-double, combining for 10 points and nine rebounds.
Freshman Kenna Squier added six points and six rebounds while three different Highlanders combined for five points -- Dani Evans, Ellyn Stoll and Maria Fux.
NJIT will wrap up the home portion of its schedule on Monday, February 24 at 7pm, welcoming Stetson to NJIT's Wellness and Events Center. Monday will mark Senior Day for three graduating seniors -- Danielle Tunstall, Milena Bajic and Tracey Brereton. Â The game will be streamed live on ESPN3.
