NEWARK, NJ--The NJIT men's volleyball team will open a four-match homestand on January 23, welcoming Purdue Fort Wayne and Ball State on Saturday, January 25 inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center. 

Both matches are scheduled for a 6pm first spike on the Highlanders Sports Network.

Highlanders Sports Network Michael Ventola sat down with sixth-year head coach Danny Goncalves to preview the upcoming season and recap the Highlanders win over USC, a team ranked in the top-15 in the AVCA Men's Volleyball poll.
 
Scouting NJIT
The Highlanders are coming off of a 3-1 victory against Lindenwood. Jens Feldthus led the way with 11 kills and Martin de Chavarria had seven blocks. Overall, NJIT is 2-2 on the year with wins over No. 12 USC and Lindenwood.

What Happened Last Time Against Purdue Fort Wayne?
The Mastodons took down the Highlanders 3-0 on January 4, 2019. Pelegrin Vargas led the way with a .458 hitting clip (14-3-24) and also had eight digs. 

In the AVCA Top 15
Purdue Fort Wayne is in the AVCA Top 15 Coaches Poll this week, coming in at No. 11.  In week one, NJIT was receiving votes after its win over No. 12 USC, the first time receiving votes since competing at the Division I-II level for the Highlanders.
