NEWARK, NJ - The NJIT men's tennis team will travel to Vestal, NY, this weekend to open up its 2019-20 campaign at the The Star Group Binghamton Championships.
In addition to the host Bearcats, NJIT will be joined at the event by Army, Bucknell, Buffalo, and St. Thomas Aquinas.Â
"The team has been gelling nicely with everyone embracing the rigorous training during these first three weeks," said head coach
Ira Miller, who is in his sixth season leading the Highlanders. "We're all looking forward to going against the top players from some very good schools. It will be a great opportunity for our excellent freshmen to get their first taste of college competition."
Miller's squad includes 12 players, eight of whom are freshmen looking to make their NJIT debuts this season. During the preseason, Miller named junior
Abdullah Fouad and senior
George Svensson captains.
Fouad is the squad's top returner after recording 14 singles victories last season.Â
Tennis is slated to commence at 10am on Friday and will continue into Saturday and Sunday. Return to NJITHighlanders.com for recaps following each day of play this weekend.Â
