WILKES BARRE, PA--Still missing a few players, but playing another D-II team, the NJIT Highlanders fared much better on Sunday against the Bloomsburg Huskies. Matt Altomare, in his first outing of the season, had a strong game in net.
It was two newcomers that accounted for all of the Highlanders scoring as Freshman Jeff Patterson and transfer Dalton Smith each scored on the power play.
After a scoreless first period, Patterson redirected a slap shot by
James Lyle to give NJIT a 1-0 lead early in the second. The Huskies tied it and then took the lead with 2 goals in less than a
minute early in the third period. Dalton tied it back up with a blistering slap shot with assists to
Michael Caufield and
James Lyle.
NJIT had chances but couldn't capitalize and eventually Bloomsburg got their third and final tally.
