TOWSON, MD - The NJIT women's volleyball team dropped a three-set match (25-19, 25-11, 25-16) to host Towson on Saturday, the first day of the two-day Tiger Invitational.
The Tigers now boast a 9-2 overall record, while the Highlanders are 1-12.
Towson controlled the match from the onset, hitting .253 while holding NJIT to a .044 attacking percentage. The Tigers recorded 11 blocks to the Highlanders' five and also collected six service aces and held the visitors to just one.
Madi Busler's nine kills led NJIT offesnively, while
Susan Blake had another efficient match, recording five kills against two errors in 13 attacks (.231).
Liz Benson dished out a team-best 18 assists, while
Olivia Welsch led the squad with 11 digs.
The Highlanders wrap up action at the Tiger Invitational with a pair of matches on Sunday. They'll take on New Hampshire at 10am and Loyola at 3:30pm.
