OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. --- NJIT Women's Soccer pushed its current unbeaten streak to four games with a 1-1 draw against the LIU Sharks Friday evening at NYIT's President's Stadium.
The match was the first for NJIT (3-2-2) against the recently rebranded Sharks, who combined their Division I Brooklyn and Division II Post campuses this year.
NJIT found itself down a score early (3') after LIU (1-4-1) cleaned up a rebounded shot and netted only their second goal of the year.
Tara Walenczyk brought the Highlanders even a quarter of the way through the second half (57'), converting on a one-on-one opportunity near the right side of the six-yard box.
Overall, the Highlanders played well despite being down for much of the first half. NJIT outshot LIU 14-8, including a 9-8 advantage in shots on goal.
The NJIT defense held its ground after LIU's goal, only needing goalkeeper
Molly Saylor to make one save in the contest.

The Highlanders will close their non-conference schedule on September 20 with another trip to New York to face the Columbia Lions. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
