BETHLEHEM, PA - The NJIT women's volleyball team played its third five-set match in its last four, falling to host Lehigh 19-25, 26-28. 25-18, 25-16, 15-6 on Tuesday evening, September 10, in Bethlehem, PA.
The victory was the fifth in a row for Lehigh, which saw its overall record improve to 5-3, while the Highlanders are now 1-7 on the season.Â
NJIT hit .455 in the opening set en route to the six-point victory and overcame a pair of set-point opportunities for Lehigh in the second to win 28-26.
From there, it was all Lehigh though as the Mountain Hawks won each of the final three sets by at least seven points.Â
Madi Busler tallied a season-high 16 kills to lead the Highlanders offensively, while
Sarah Merritt chipped in with 13.
Liz Benson recorded her third-straight double-double, finishing the match with 42 assists and 12 digs.Â
The Highlanders return to action on Friday when they take on Sacred Heart in the first of three matches taking place in Fairfield, CT, this weekend. First serve against the Pioneers is scheduled for 6pm.Â
