Men's Tennis Hangs Tough Against Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. --- Despite being without the services of its normal No. 1 Tomi Antoljak, the NJIT men's tennis team produced a number of close moments in a 4-0 defeat to the Yale Bulldogs Saturday afternoon.

In doubles, the top two matches proved to be the most competitive for the Highlanders. Lukas Zvikas and George Svensson came close to winning at No. 2 before conceding their match, 6-4. And Zac Castagna and Aleksa Petrovic were leading their top match, 4-3 before Yale secured the point at No. 3

Castagna and Petrovic continued their strong play into their singles matches and were up a set in their respective matches at Nos. 3 and 4 but the Bulldogs were able to clinch the match with wins at Nos. 1, 5 and 6 before the Highlanders could finish and potentially register points.

"This was a hard fought match that the score doesn't fully do justice," head coach Ira Miller said after the contest. "We are knocking on the door against some very good teams and are poised for a breakthrough soon."
