FAIRFIELD, CT—The NJIT men's fencing team competed at the Tradition Tournament hosted by Sacred Heart on Sunday evening.
NJIT picked up its lone win against Brown (18-9) while also facing NYU (12-15), Penn State (9-18), Princeton (10-17) and Vassar (11-16).
Senior
Thomas Manley led the foil squad with an even 6-6 record, picking up a pair of wins against NYU, Penn State and Brown. Freshman
Kevin Katayama recorded seven wins in the foil competition.
Sophomore
Robert Hondor and junior
Brett Bogert led the epee squad to a 25-20 overall mark, picking up eight and seven wins respectively in their individual bouts.
Three different Highlanders –
Justin Petway,
Thomas Slawinski and
Pedro D'Avila each combined for five wins in the saber competition.
NJIT will break and return to action in the New Year, competing at the Philadelphia Invitational hosted by Penn on January 18.
