Last Time Out
Visiting Colgate defeated NJIT, 79-52 in the season opener for both teams Tuesday evening at the Wellness and Events Center in women's basketball non-conference action.

NJIT (0-1) was led by freshman Kenna Squier, who scored a game-best 14 points in her collegiate debut as a Highlander.  The guard from Branchville, NJ, went 5-for-9 from the field and 3-for-4 from the free throw line.

Junior guard Ellyn Stoll netted 12 points while freshman forward Dani Evans came off the bench for the Highlanders to score nine points in 16 minutes of action, sinking 3-of-4 from three-point range in her collegiate debut.

Scouting the Highlanders
Head coach Mike Lane begins his second season at the helm of the Highlanders, after spending six seasons at Bucknell University as the top assistant coach, where he helped guide the Bison to a program-best 27-6 mark, Patriot League title and conference championship while earning a berth to the NCAA Tournament in 2017.

The three key returners back for the 2019-20 season are seniors Tunstall and Milena Bajic as well as junior Ellyn Stoll.

Last season, Tunstall averaged 11.5 points and 7.5 board per game, while Stoll totaled 238 points (7.9 points per game), adding 64 assists and 36 three-point field goals.

Bajic, who made her first appearance as a Highlander last season, averaged 6.5 points per game and had six double-figure performances.

The Highlanders welcome six newcomers and one transfer to the 2019-20 roster -- Kenna Squier, Maria Fux, Kennedy Cash, Marissa McDonald, Kendle Dalrymple and Dani Evans

Junior transfer Kimi Evans who played two seasons at Seton Hall, will practice with the Highlanders in 2019-20, but will not compete until the 2020-21 season under NCAA Division I transfer rules.

Homecoming for NJIT Assistant Coach LT Watson
Watson, in her second season at NJIT, spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Colorado (1996-2005).

At University of Colorado, the Buffaloes compiled a 152-92 record during that time and competed in the NCAA Tournament on five occasions, including an Elite Eight appearance in 2002.

Watson coached 10 players who continued playing professionally during that time period, including 2002 WNBA draftee Mandy Nightingale.

Scouting Air Force
Air Force enters the game on Field Trip Day with an 0-1 record.  Air Force dropped an 87-56 decision at No. 18/20 Arizona State to open the season.  The Falcons were led by freshman guard Kamri Heath who scored a game-high 16 points in her collegiate debut.

Air Force return four starters and six letter winners from the 2018-19 campaign, highlighted by junior scoring leader Kaelin Immel (13.2 ppg). Joining Immel is Air Force's leading rebounder, Emily Conroe (6.2 rpg/10.5 ppg) and Mountain West All-Freshman selection, Riley Snyder (10.0 ppg). Sophomores Briana Autrey and Haley Jones, who made significant contributions in their freshman season, round out the Falcons' key returners.

Air Force finished the 2018-19 campaign with an overall mark of 8-22 and a 4-14 Mountain West record to finished 10th in the league.  The Falcons eight wins marked head coach Chris Gobrecht's most single-season wins since taking the helm four seasons ago.

Scouting Colorado
Colorado, which finished with a 12-18 mark last season, will open its 2019-20 season against NJIT on Sunday. Colorado was picked to finish 12th in the Pac-12 Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Buffaloes will be led by lone senior Quinessa Caylao-Do. The 2019-20 Buffs have just three upperclassmen, joined by Mya Hollingshed and Annika Jank.
In an exhibition win over Regis, freshman Jaylyn Sherrod went 7-of-8 from the field for a team-high 18 points. She also added eight rebounds on the night.

Next Up
The Highlanders and Quakers will meet for the third-straight year on November 13 in Newark at 7pm.  The Quakers are coming off an Ivy League regular season championship last season, their sixth-straight 20+ win season and seventh-straight postseason appearance.
