NJIT Highlights at Stetson
DELAND, FL—Day'Neshia Banks led three double-double scorers with a game-high 18 points pacing Stetson to a 74-48 victory over visiting NJIT Tuesday evening in ASUN Conference action at Edmunds Center.
The win for Stetson snaps a two-game skid, moving to 3-2 in the ASUN, 8-11 overall while the Highlanders stand at 2-3 in the ASUN, 5-13 overall.
In addition to Banks 18 points, Addi Walters followed with 16 points on 6-for-9 from the field and 3-of-6 from downtown in addition to four rebounds while McKenna Beach netted 15 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Center Megan Vincent added eight points, eight rebounds and three blocks in the win for the Hatters.
Danielle Tunstall, the only Highlander to reach double-figures, recorded her sixth double-double of the season – 14 points and 13 rebounds, shooting 5-for-9 from the field and 4-of-5 from the charity stripe.

Kelly Guarino and
Ellyn Stoll each scored seven points for the Highlanders.
Stetson opened the scoring on a 14-8 run in the opening four minutes, paced by a pair of three-pointers by Addi Walters. Sparked by a three-pointer by
Tatianna Torres, NJIT used a 7-2 spurt to cut the Hatter deficit to four, 16-12, with 2:11 on the clock.
The Hatters continued its momentum into the second quarter, beginning with a 9-3 run, extending its lead to 11, 28-17, just under the five-minute media. Stetson's Beach scored all nine Hatter points in the opening five minutes.
Stetson took its largest lead of the game, pushing its advantage to double-digits, 12, 30-18, after a layup by Mackenzie Davis. NJIT rallied back and mounted a 10-3 spurt, slimming the Hatters lead to within five, 33-28, at the 1:48 mark. Stoll netted five points in the run for NJIT.
The Hatters scored the final five points of the quarter, heading into the locker room with a 10-point lead, 38-28.
NJIT's
Danielle Tunstall paced the Highlanders with eight points and 11 rebounds through the first 20 minutes while McKenna Beach and Addi Walters each scored 11 points for the Hatters.
The Hatters outscored the visitors, 23-6, in the third quarter, taking its largest lead of the contest, 61-34.
The visitors took the fourth quarter, 14-13, scoring eight of its 14 points from the free throw line. As a team, NJIT finished 86.7 percent from the free throw line (13-for-18).
NJIT will have a two-game stretch at home, hosting North Alabama on Sunday, January 27 at 1pm inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center.
