NEWARK, NJ—FGCU's Cortney Vanliew recorded a double-double, posting 10 kills, a match-high and 11 digs in the Eagles 3-0 victory over NJIT Friday evening in ASUN Conference action at the Wellness and Events Center.
With the win, FGCU moves to 3-0 in the ASUN, 10-5 overall while the Highlanders drop to 0-3 in the ASUN, 2-15 overall.
FGCU won in straight sets – 25-9, 25-6 and 25-15.
Vanliew, the only player to reach double-digit kills, finished with a .241 hitting percentage while Snowy Burman and Giovanna Borgiotti added eight and seven kills respectively.
Setter Maggie Rick and Chelsea Lockey split time at the setting position, combining for 16 and 12 assists.

Adriana Nieto shared match-high honors in digs with 14.
The Eagles held a huge advantage in team blocks, 12-to-0, led by Danielle Serrano and Kaitlan Krivdo with six block assists apiece. Vanliew added five block assists.

Iva Mandic led the Highlanders with six kills while setter
Liz Benson added six assists and four digs.
Nieto, who paces the ASUN in digs, combined for 14 digs.
NJIT will return to action on Sunday at 1pm when the Highlanders host the newest member of the ASUN Conference Liberty.
